Deuteronomy - Chapter 27

1 And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.

2 And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:

3 And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over [as soon as ye have crossed Jordan], that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.

4 Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.

5 And there shalt thou build there an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.

6 Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer whole-burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:

7 And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there and be filled, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.

8 And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed [Be silente], and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.

10 Thou shalt therefore obey [hearken to] the voice of the LORD thy God, and shalt do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,

12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:

13 And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

14 And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

15 Cursed be the man whosoever that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen [So be it].

16 Cursed be he that setteth light by [dishonours] his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

17 Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

18 Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way [in the way]. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

19 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife; because he uncovereth his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

21 Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

22 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

23 Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law [daughter-in-law]. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it]. Cursed is he that lies with his wife's sister: and all the people shall say, So be it.

24 Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

25 Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen [So be it].

Numbers - Chapter 27

1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation [of witness], saying,

3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

5 And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

6 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

8 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

9 And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

10 And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren.

11 And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.

12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim [Go up to the mountain that is in the country beyond Jordan, this mount Nabau], and see the land Chanaan which I have given unto the children of Israel for a possession.

13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered in mount Or.

14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert [wilderness] of Zin, in the strife of the congregation [when the congregation resisted], to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah [of Strife] in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

15 And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,

16 Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17 Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

18 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and thou shalt give him a charge before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour [thy glory] upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient [may hearken to him].

21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

22 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses [as the Lord ordered Moses].

Leviticus - Chapter 27

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation [Whosoever shall vow a vow as the valuation of his soul for the Lord].

3 And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels [didrachms] of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

4 And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels [didrachms].

5 And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels [didrachms], and for the female ten shekels [didrachms].

6 And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels [didrachms] of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels [didrachms] of silver.

7 And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels [didrachms], and for the female ten shekels [didrachms].

8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation [for the valuation], then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed [according to what the man who has vowed can afford] shall the priest value him.

9 And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.

10 He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

11 And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:

12 And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.

13 But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.

14 And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.

15 And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.

16 And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels [didrachms] of silver.

17 If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile [of release], according to thy estimation it shall stand [to his valuation].

18 But if he sanctify his field after the jubile [in the latter time after the release], then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile [of release], and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

19 And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

20 And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.

21 But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile [after the release], shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest’s.

22 And if a man sanctify [consecrate] unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;

23 Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation [the full valuation], even unto the year of the jubile [from the year of release]: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD.

24 In the year of the jubile [of release] the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

25 And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary [by holy weights]: twenty gerahs [oboli] shall be the shekel [the didrachm].

26 Only the firstling of the beasts [every first-born which shall be produced among thy cattle], which should be the LORD’s firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD’s.

27 And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation [to its valuation], and shall add a fifth part of it thereto, and it shall be his: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation [to its valuation].

28 Notwithstanding no devoted [dedicated] thing, that a man shall devote [dedicate] unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.

29 None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s: it is holy unto the LORD.

31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof, and it shall be his.

32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it [thou shalt not change a good for a bad, or a bad for a good]: and if he change it at all [thou shouldest at all change it], then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

34 These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

Exodus - Chapter 27

1 And thou shalt make an altar of shittim [incorruptible] wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits.

2 And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.

3 And thou shalt make a rim for the altar; and its covering and its cups. And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes, and his shovels, and his basons, and his fleshhooks, and his firepans: all the vessels thereof thou shalt make of brass.

4 And thou shalt make for it a grate of network of brass; and upon the net shalt thou make four brasen rings in [under] the four corners thereof.

5 And thou shalt put it under the compass [the grate] of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar.

6 And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves of shittim [incorruptible] wood, and overlay them with brass.

7 And the staves shall be put into the rings, and the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar, to bear it.

8 Hollow with boards shalt thou make it: as it was shewed thee in the mount, so shall they make it.

9 And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side:

10 And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets [their rings and their clasps] shall be of silver.

11 And likewise for the north side in length there shall be hangings [curtains] of an hundred cubits long, and his twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of brass; the hooks [rings and the clasps] of the pillars and their fillets of silver.

12 And for the breadth of the court [tabernacle] on the west side shall be hangings [curtains] of fifty cubits: their pillars ten, and their sockets ten.

13 And the breadth of the court [tabernacle] on the east side eastward shall be [curtains of] fifty cubits; their pillars ten, and their sockets ten.

14 The hangings [curtains] of one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their sockets three.

15 And on the other side shall be hangings [curtains] fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their sockets three.

16 And for the gate of the court shall be an hanging [a veil] of twenty cubits, of blue linen, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework: and their pillars shall be four, and their sockets four.

17 All the pillars round about the court shall be filleted [overlaid] with silver; their hooks [chapiters] shall be of silver, and their sockets of brass.

18 The length of the court shall be an hundred cubits on each side, and the breadth fifty every where, and the height five cubits of fine twined linen, and their sockets of brass.

19 All the vessels [all the furniture and all the instruments] of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court, shall be of brass.

20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

21 In the tabernacle of the congregation [of the testimony] without the vail, which is before the testimony [the (ark of the) covenant], Aaron and his sons shall order it [burn it] from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

Genesis - Chapter 27

1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

2 And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:

3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, into the plain, and take me some venison;

4 And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison for his father, and to bring it.

6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, hearken to me, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver, as one ill-intentioned; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands [on his arms the], and upon the smooth, bare parts, of his neck:

17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?

19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

20 And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.

21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.

22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.

24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.

25 And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.

26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field, an abundant field, which the LORD hath blessed:

28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

29 Let people [nations] serve thee, and nations [princes] bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee, the sons of thy father shall do thee reverence; cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, it even came to pass, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn son Esau.

33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, Isaac was amazed with very great amazement, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34 And it came to pass when Esau heard the words of his father Isaac, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, I pray thee, even me also, O my father.

35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Esau said to his father, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me, father?

37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, Isaac being troubled, and wept.

39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break and loosen his yoke from off thy neck.

41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou and depart quickly into Mesopotamia, to Laban my brother to Haran;

44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away;

45 Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?
